Today at the Office, I did this.

  1. I just went outside and set a couple of tires on fire. Pollution gets people talking about the environment.
Then I crashed my car into some pedestrians and drove off. Violence gets people talking about crime.
Then I ran over a cat. Feline deaths get people talking about animal cruelty.
The ends justify the means, I’m an artist, as was Hitler.

  4. There's actually very little between you and Paul Henry. Both fame sluts, both offensive for the sake of it, both living royally from the public purse.

Do you think you are some kind of revolutionary?

    You're unbelievably myopic.

  5. The most offensive thing about these kinds of projects is the way they are presented by galleries and artist-self promoters and their promoters.

    "Makes you think."

    "Generates discussion."

What a conceit: the implication is that New Zealanders don't think much, or ever discuss their condition and the condition of their countrymen, until an artist does something provocative to "make them think."

New Zealanders, all over the country, Maori, Pakeha otherwise, are constantly engaged in thinking about their country and their place in it, and many subtle discussions, and discussions a great deal more subtle than your most recent "work", Tao,

Do you really consider yourself as an intellectual? In your videos you come across as opinionated but uninformed, actually quite stupid, and willfully obscure in a way that is not clever at all, but very obviously to those that can recognize it, obscure in order to mask your lack of depth. And as other posters have noted, you always have a beer in your hand -- is the beer a way to deal with the feelings of self-loathing you feel, Tao, knowing--perhaps waking up every morning feeling--that you are a great fraud, one far from the lives of the kinds of New Zealanders that even you consider worthy of respect?

Do you really think there is any value (and no, I am not talking about monetary value) in what you are doing? There us only pure provocation, and insult to the people who would rather not be on the benefit and to low wage workers who are struggling to stay off it. The $40,000 odd dollars you received could have supported two families. The $40,000 you received could have stocked (the vastly understocked) Wellington foodbank for a month. You are a fool, and not a holy one, or a wise one. I hope that you can look in the mirror one day--sober--and see yourself for what you truly are. And change.

  6. Mark your reaction to what has been presented to you needs to be examined. You have every right to your opinion as i do to mine, but you confuse your opinion with actual facts. Your angry, I'M ANGRY.. but I know who at and it's not you. Watch some Adam Curtis Documentaries and get back to me. beace

  7. You arrogantly suppose that you understand my position better than I do myself, and then, instead of engaging with it, you tell me to watch a documentary by a British journalist.

I concerned with your behavior, your work, Mr Wells.

Referring me to a British documentary film maker is not engaging with my opinion.

You have made a statement about the quality of my opinion, and then you have not actually pointed out why you think that or justified that statement.

That only gives me more reason to think that there is nothing much behind your provocation.

You say you know who you are angry at. Let me guess, "the system"?

It may be that the system is unjust, but answer me this: If you were living in a concentration camp, a place I imagine we both consider unjust, would you take food off your fellow inmate to make a point to him that the system you are both living in is unjust?

  8. Good job censoring critical comments that make serious arguments against your projects, Tao, and then cherry picking all the comments on your facebook page that make you look good, and that come from extreme right winners, therefore tacitly aligning yourself with the left.

You should have no sympathy from the left. You are (1) helping the argument against public arts funding (2) stealing money from people who are struggling to get buy, and (3) giving people more reason to think of beneficiaries as layabouts, when most beneficiaries would rather not be on the benefit.

    Good work, tosser.
