Humiliated, a painting show by Tao Wells, at Gambia Castle, September 2010

Ten stretched used bed sheet combinations over improvised wooden frames. Five made in plain air compositions of the mid section of Mt Taranaki, as viewed from a hill by the beach in Fitzroy, New Plymouth. Near where the I lived.  Five left plain, in response to the stretched sheets themselves taking over in importance. The series was a response to my need to find employment, earn a crust, so going out into the public 'market' I tried to create value I could afford.

Charcoal on clean used sheet

Acrylic on joined sheets

A video about making the first painting of the series.
